Today WW international launched a new program for Weight Watchers, called Points Plus. I kind of want to call them pro points or points for the pro... anyway, when I went to my meeting today we got a whole slew of new materials including a new weight tracker. I watched the very friendly receptionist write my "starting weight" in my tracker and my starting date. I noticed two things immediately, 1.) the weight is not my true starting weight, it is from when they started weighing by computer and 2.) that I have been loosing and gaining the same ten or pounds for TWO years.
I knew I wanted to use the begin of the new program as a kickstart and pretend that I am a new member because the last time I joined in 2007, surprise, surprise, I was super excited about it, I followed the plan and it worked for a long time. (then I hit a big two year long plateau.)
In the spirit of NABLOMO or whatever the acronym is, I am going to blog about this at least once a week after weigh in. I am going to create motivation for myself. :)
And so here goes:
Day One: An excited start with to the day with the meeting which quickly turned to frustration. I didn't eat before I went to the meeting (stupid I know) and didn't bring anything with me, so when I returned home I was starving. I ate a really late breakfast, November Huevos Rancheros, which threw off my eating schedule. Further frustration that the ww page wouldn't work in Firefox, but thanks to two google searches, I found that it does work in safari so I tried it and yay it did work. I am also excited with my powers of research, I found all the nutrition labels online so I could track away from my kitchen.
(aside: I am at a coffee shop, the fabulous Remedy in Temescal. It is a chilly day, the sun has started to go down, and I just saw a woman walk by with the weirdest biggest boob ever, then I realized she had a baby in a carrier under sweater and I was looking at the baby's head.)
(second aside: There are at least two people here with awesome glasses and I now really want new stylish ie hipster glasses. GAH...should I just admit that my style is going in that direction and live with it....)
November Oregano Huevos Rancheros
Chop 1/3 of an onion, sautee with olive oil, add chopped up potato (I used a small white one, my mom gave me after thanksgiving.) Cook till fragrant, but the potatoes are still a bit crunchy. Add salt and black pepper to taste. I added a ton of Chili powder, say a teaspoon and half, then a lot of fresh oregano from the Buchner Family Farm. Add 1/2 cup of Black beans. Cook till beans are warm. Put on a plate.
Scramble an egg (I used egg beaters). Pour on top of or next to the potatoes. Top with Feta cheese, (I always have this but it would be better with mexican cheese), sour cream and salsa autentica from Trader Joe's. Enjoy.
I had it with coffe and a small glass of orange juice. It was delicious.
I hope I do okay portion-wise at my friend's Birthday party tonight. A lot of our friends are very good and fond of baking. I am sure there will be a lot of yummy desserts for me to have a taste of.
