Green Smoothies are totally delicious

I went to WW today and I lost some weight which made me happy because I am close to having lost 5 lbs this time around! YAY! That is a tangible number, not some loosing weight based on the weight I gained before when I joined before.

Here I am in today's weigh in outfit.

Last weekend was the Nike Women's Marathon, an event I have worked for the past 4 or 5 years. I quite like it. It's always fun and inspiring to watch everyone walk/run the race and be a part of the entertainment/cheering portion of the race. This year my station was relatively easy but with a dose of complicated. Because of the complicated I got to work it with my dear friend Nina. Since we had to be at our location overlooking the golden gate bridge at 6am she suggested that I stay the night at her house. Nina, her husband Jeff and our friend Tanya went to a yummy Burmese dinner, had a field trip to the fresh and easy and went back to her house for games. (I need to start playing words with friends if I am ever going to compete with them in Scrabble.) I did manage to shoot the moon during our hearts game. GAMES ARE AWESOME!

Nina got up at 5am and made a smoothie with bananas, blueberries, soy milk and spinach. I must admit to being a bit dubious about the spinach but it tasted quite good. Today I was inspired, I made a smoothie and put spinach in it. Other than it being green, it was totally delicious. What an easy way to get some more vitamins and leafy greens.

Two excitements on the exercise front:

1) NEW AWESOME SHOES: The perk of working the marathon sponsored by a shoe manufacturer is that they give us running shoes and t-shirts to wear for branding purposes. I always like the shoes but they are normally fancy white running shoes. I hate wearing white running shoes unless I am exercising /wearing athletic clothes. I am sure this is based on me wearing mostly cross trainers during middle school. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this year's pair of shoes. They are dark grey and they don't super look like running shoes. They look like cool athletic shoes, ones that you can wear with jeans. AND they are super comfortable. I think I have worn them every day this week.

Look how high I can jump! (This was my first try and my only success at getting the shoes.

2)I found my missing pedometer in the secret pocket of my backpack.

I think these shoes might have a special motivating power. This week I have been super motivated to walk around the lake and have been much more aware of my walking because of my pedometer. (We have been having wonderful weather.) The extra walking has motivated me to try and eat more veggies, which I have totally been doing. I have had a pretty great week food/exercise wise. I feel really energized about eating fruits and veggies.

Major changes are happening in my home life that I was not dealing very well with last week. I decided to help me feel better I needed to see more of my friends and be more social. I still feel cranky about the change but way proud of myself for trying to be pro-active. I ran into someone I hadn't seen in a year and she lost maybe 20 lbs and looks amazing. Has motivated me too. That and getting the postcard for my sister's wedding in 9 months is also getting me moving.

This week has more hanging out with friends and more fruits and veggies and walks!
