A slightly belated Thanksgiving.

I intended to post this on Tuesday when I got the internet back, but I didn't get around to it till today. I did write this on Tuesday.

When my new roommate (who moved in yesterday) and I ate lunch she pulled out a lovely smelling plate of Thanksgiving leftovers. I realized that I left in such a rush to attend a birthday party on Friday, I did not take any leftovers!?!?! What was I thinking? I love Thanksgiving leftovers. I do think I had my most successful Thanksgiving in recent memory.

I started off the day taking a walk to the next park down with my dad and although it was scheduled to rain all morning, thankfully it didn’t rain at all. My mom made a yummy breakfast that everyone local attended and my cousin who lives in Chicago brought a few krugels from Wisconsin. A krugel is a large ring shaped, thin flaky pastry with a yummy fruit filling and most of the time icing on top. Delicious! She told us that she brought four in her suitcase and instead of clothes because she knew she was going to buy clothes at Stanford (where her son goes to college). I had a very small piece and mostly protein filled food for breakfast.

My mom, my cousin and I started prepping for dinner and we managed to be so efficient that we had a whole two hours to wait till the turkey was done cooking (and my sister, her fiancĂ© and two dogs arrived.) The night before my mom made a soup with turkey and rice for lunch. It was delicious. Then we got to the main event which was as fabulous as always with turkey made on the bbq by my dad and butternut squash from my sister’s garden that I added maple syrup and cinnamon that tasted like yams. We had roasted brussel sprouts and Mrs. Stromberg’s famous frozen cranberry sauce. With salad and rolls and mashed potatoes and gravy. My mom made pumpkin pie, my sister and her fiancĂ© brought an apple pie from Julien, and my cousin and I made a cranberry cake. I made bourbon whipped cream and we ate an entire container of ice cream. Delicious!!!

Last week was Thanksgiving, bridesmaid dress shopping, I got to work at a new theater, a birthday party, and my 10 year high school reunion. Guess what? I lost weight this week!! :)
I am so thankful for being able to spend time with my family and most of the time support myself doing a job that I love. I am thankful that I have managed to make up my mind to give Weight Watchers a good try. I am so thankful for my pedometer.

This week I am going to step up my exercise and maybe try to do a bit of run/ walking (gasp)! I’ll get to give my new favorite running shoes a chance. The WW program is changing this week and I am excited to see how this goes. It's getting colder in my apartment and I’m gonna cook some yummy soup. I’ve got Saturday off and I plan to go to the farmer’s market and get some delicious winter veggies.
(Here’s me trying to jump, so you can see my funny socks with my patterned sweater.)
